About Tyrolean Village Resorts

History of Tyrolean Village Resorts at Blue Mountain

In the early 1950's Albert and Mary Martinek along with their 2 sons, Joseph and William, left their native Czechoslovakia for the slopes of BLUE MOUNTAIN, COLLINGWOOD. With them they brought an artisan's familiarity with Alpine CHALETS, personal triumphs in Olympic ski competition and a European flair for good living.

The Martinek family built their first chalet in the early 1960's at the base of BLUE MOUNTAIN RESORTS, the largest ski resort in Ontario. They continued to build chalets throughout the 1960's and 70's, what started as a hobby turned into Tyrolean Village Resorts, a thriving business.  It was the first large scale accommodation provider in the BLUE MOUNTAINS area. The unique design of the SWISS STYLE CHALETS came from consulting with the same architect responsible for the design of Ontario Place in Toronto. The design has withstood the test of time and still remains the best lodging option for families and groups who enjoy staying all together under one roof. Real Finnish indoor saunas, huge wood burning fireplaces and spacious living and dining areas were incorporated into the design to bring a touch of Europe to BLUE MOUNTAIN, COLLINGWOOD. Guests could also take advantage of the many resort ammenities, among them a PRIVATE BEACH on GEORGIAN BAY and the ski hills of BLUE MOUNTAIN.  From the early 1970's til now, generations have visited and enjoyed their experience at Tyrolean Village Resorts at BLUE MOUNTAIN.
